Many brands laughed at each other, with many joking about how the outages had garnered all the attention and engagement on the brands’ Twitter accounts.

And it seems fast food titan Wendy’s was quickly cheeky that Facebook and Instagram pages weren’t the only things broken with some chains.

Wendy’s longtime competitor and rival McDonald’s tweeted Monday afternoon jokingly asking “If you were the person who managed the McDonald’s account for a day, what would you tweet.”

Responses from fans and customers ranged from “so hungry for mcdonalds” to users trying to promote their name on the McDonald’s account, many of which were reposted and shared.

But when Wendy’s account got their hands on the Tweet, they certainly didn’t hold back.

“Where things that should be fresh are frozen and things that should be frozen are down,” the tweet said, appearing to take a hit against McDonald’s using frozen food and the fact that their ice cream machines still seem be broken. .

The wild tweet from Wendy’s account received over 22,400 likes.

“I never saw the Frostee machine fall, I’m just saying,” Doug Stafford replied, to which Wendy’s responded “Interesting” alongside the wide-eyed emoji.

The Tweet follows a report from The Wall Street Journal earlier this month, McDonald’s franchise owners complained about the complicated nature of ice cream machines and the time they take to clean, which sparked a preliminary FTC investigation to investigate the makers of the machines .

“The machines require an automated overnight hot cleaning cycle that can take up to four hours to destroy bacteria,” the report complaints. “The cleaning cycle can fail, rendering machines inoperable until a repair technician can restart them, say owners.”

McDonald’s has yet to respond to Wendy’s comment.

“We don’t get approval for everything, but certainly for some things. McDonald’s tweets generally need approval, ”Wendy’s social media team said in a 2017 Reddit AMA regarding what can and cannot be sent by the account.

Wendy’s was broken down 7.03% year over year as of Tuesday afternoon.
