Springfield Police Charge 3 Out of Town Men with Armed Home Invasion of Hope Street Residence

SPRINGFIELD – Springfield Police arrested three men on Tuesday afternoon for armed robbery shortly after a Hope Street resident reported that masked men had forcibly entered his home and robbed him under threat weapon, police said.

Police spokesman Ryan Walsh said three suspects were arrested by police on Roosevelt Avenue and Cottage Street just after 1 p.m., shortly after the theft was reported and a description of the theft was released. a suspicious vehicle.

Jose Martinez, 46, of Chicopee, Benjamin Nunez, 37, of West Springfield, Robert Nunez, 39, of Northampton, were arrested.

Each is charged with home invasion, armed robbery while wearing a mask, theft over $ 1,200 and various weapons charges, including illegal possession of a loaded firearm and possession of a firearm while committing a crime.

Police found a handgun loaded with 17 rounds in the car, Walsh said, along with items believed to have been reported during the theft.

The resident was not injured in the flight, he said.

Roosevelt and Cottage is approximately 2 1/2 miles from Hope Street.

Martinez and Benjamin Nunez and Robert Nunez are expected to be brought to justice on Tuesday in Springfield District Court.
