Rise Southern Biscuits Tackles Labor Shortage With In-Store Technology

Rise Southern Biscuits and Righteous Chicken, the nation’s fastest growing cookie and fried chicken concept, tackles the workforce shortage crisis with a technological approach to contactless ordering, including an in-store kiosk and the installation of an innovative heated locker system. Earlier this year, Rise installed a unique heated locker system and touchscreen control kiosk at its 932 square foot site in downtown Durham, North Carolina. Not only has it streamlined the in-store and online ordering experience for customers while keeping deliveries and takeout hot and fresh, but early data shows it has helped Rise increase sales and integrate huge operational efficiencies in its workforce model.

Where many quick service restaurants aim to keep their labor cost percentages around 25% of sales, Rise’s efficient model has kept the labor cost percentage down to the center. Customers have also become accustomed to the ordering experience at Rise, and Ferguson has anecdotally stated that they appreciate the little to no wait time for pickup orders.
