LOUISVILLE, KY – Yum! Brands, parent company of KFC, Pizza Hut, Taco Bell and The Habit Burger Grill restaurants, has announced that it will reduce its greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions by 46% by 2030 in partnership with its franchisees, suppliers and producers.
Yum! owns KFC, Pizza Hut and Taco Bell units in Magnolia.
Yum! is also committed to achieving net zero emissions by 2050. The science targets are consistent with the reductions needed to keep warming at 1.5 ° C and have been endorsed by the Science Based Targets initiative.

Yum’s climate change strategy! Will primarily focus on reducing emissions in its more than 50,000 corporate and franchise restaurants and throughout its supply chain. By 2030, Yum! will reduce the GHG emissions generated by its restaurants and corporate offices, defined as Scope 1 and 2, 46% below 2019 levels. Alongside franchisees, suppliers and producers, Yum! will also reduce emissions by 46% from 2019 levels over the same period, per restaurant for franchisees and per metric tonne for beef, poultry, dairy and packaging.

Investing in green buildings – KFC continues to invest in its green building strategy and is piloting several energy optimization systems in its markets that it will seek to develop, notably in Malaysia, South Africa and the United Kingdom. Tests show promising results, including 18% overall energy savings in Malaysia and projected savings of over 5.4 million kWh over five years in UK
Accelerate Renewable Energy – Yum! will move 1,000 restaurants around the world to renewable energy by the end of 2021.
Plus, Yum! moved its corporate offices in the United States to 100% renewable energy in 2020.
Collaboration with Climate Forward Partners – Early 2021, Yum! has joined the Renewable Energy Buyers Alliance (REBA), an alliance of major energy buyers, energy suppliers and service providers who have come together to accelerate the transition to a zero carbon energy future.
