McDonald’s worker is gutted – after losing her precious £500 engagement ring at Nando’s. Zoe Hughes realized her ring – from H Samuel – was missing the day after she left for dinner at Hanley’s restaurant.
The 21-year-old was proposed by Billy Thorley, 23, in February during a trip to York. The couple have been together for almost five years and were excited to take the next steps in their relationship.
But when Meir’s Zoe stepped out with nine co-workers on June 6, she took off her ring and hasn’t seen it since. She is now distraught and had to buy a replacement.

She told StokeonTrentLive: “We went to York where he proposed to me. There’s a ghost shop in York and they sell handmade ghosts and he put the ring on one of them I was really shocked but super happy about it.
“We went out with work for a Nando around 8:30 p.m. I had the ring at the time. I took it off at the restaurant and realized it was missing after we left. I took it off and it was on the table.
“The next day I went to put it back on but it wasn’t there – and that’s when I realised. I was quite distraught.
“We called the restaurant and went there because we knew that was where we lost it. But they said they hadn’t seen him.
“We’re going to have to replace him now, which is upsetting. The ring meant a lot to us, especially because it was the one I chose and really wanted.
“It was even more special because he was the one he proposed to. My mom posted messages on all the missing pages.
