Award-winning McDonald’s franchise manager in Canada tells the world what he always wanted to know about the fast food chain Grimace.
In 2017, McDonald’s officials attempted to stifle debate on the subject by tweeting that the jelly, smiley purple spot was simply Ronald McDonald’s best friend, but speculation persisted.

Enter Brian Bates, recently named Outstanding Manager of the Year for his outstanding leadership skills throughout the COVID-19 pandemic, an honor that placed him in the top 10% of managers working in more than 1,400 restaurants McDonald’s across Canada, Radio-Canada News reported.
Bates tell the network that Grimace literally exists to show how good McDonald’s food is.
“(Grimace) is a huge taste bud, but a taste bud nonetheless,” Bates said.
According to United States today, this is not the first time that Grimace’s true identity as a taste bud has been revealed to social media users.
In a 2012 Tweeter, McDonald’s corporate account called Grimace “the embodiment of a milkshake, although others still insist it’s a taste bud,” but changed course slightly in 2017, sharing: “When Grimace first joined McDonaldland, he had four arms and stole everyone’s milkshakes. However, in 1974 he became the big fuzzy purple man everyone knows and loves today ‘hui!’
Social media users wereted no time reacting to Bates’ revelation.
