McDonald’s charged with “discrimination” over “disgusting” drive-thru rule

Fast food chain McDonald’s has been accused of “discrimination” because of one of its drive-thru rules.

The hamburger giant has been criticized by a buyer, who found himself in difficulty placing an order because of the rule.

Lynne Holman visited the drive-thru window of the Warwick Road, Loughborough franchise and asked for a Happy Meal Chicken Nugget – but her order was rejected.

“I’ve been told that I can’t order Happy Meals but can have an average chicken nugget meal, which is basically the same thing but bigger and costs more,” she said.

“So I did that, and as I was driving to pay and going to the next window, I saw a lot of people walking out of the store with Happy Meals.

“I asked the staff about this, and they told me the manager said Happy Meals were only for customers entering the store, not for drive-thru customers.”

But Miss Holman said she was unable to enter the store to place her order because she is disabled, LeicestershireLive reports.

The incident happened two weeks ago, and the following days she contacted the fast food giant to complain.

“I contacted the head office more than a week ago because it is discrimination against people with disabilities because I could not enter the store and I was penalized because of my handicap, ”she said. LeicestershireLive.

“I had to shoo them away a few times, and the manager of Loughborough McDonald’s still hasn’t answered me.

“They tried to give me a £ 10 voucher, but I have to spend £ 10 first.

“I emailed them telling them I was disgusted that they thought all I wanted was vouchers. I just think it’s so sad that people with disabilities are discriminated against and that it must stop. “

A spokesperson for McDonald’s said, “We are aware of this customer’s complaint and our customer service team is working with both the customer and the restaurant to find a solution.
