KFC Beyond Fried Chicken: Here’s everything you need to know

KFC Beyond Fried Chicken is back.

Yum Brands

Kentucky Fried Chicken has partnered with Beyond Meat to create Beyond Fried Chicken nuggets, a vegetable option for its original fried chicken.

Here’s the bad news if you’re a fan of KFC’s latest creation: it’s only available for a limited time.

This isn’t the first time KFC has brought Beyond Fried Chicken to the public. In 2019, it had success with its first try in Atlanta, selling out in less than five hours. So, if you want to try the herbal nuggets, you need to act fast before supplies run out.

I’ll tell you what you need to know about KFC’s Beyond Fried Chicken, including cost, nutritional details of the plant-based substitute, and how long it will last.

Does it taste like real chicken?

Although I haven’t tried the Beyond Fried Chicken Nuggets, Yum Brands describes them as “packed with delicious flavors and the juicy satisfaction you expect from KFC’s signature fried chicken, but in a plant-based option.”

However, some Reddit users had differing opinions about the fake chicken and used terms like “disappointed” and “inedible” to describe it. The decision of how it tastes, however, is ultimately up to you. If you generally like KFC or Beyond Meat food, this might be for you.

Is KFC Beyond Fried Chicken completely vegan?

No. Although KFC’s Beyond Fried Chicken is plant-based, it is not prepared vegan or vegetarian-friendly, Yum Brands said in a press release. Although KFC does not specify this, it could mean that the nuggets can be cooked in oil that is not vegan. It could also mean that it is cooked in the same deep fryers used to make meat-based fried chicken.

So if your diet doesn’t give you much wiggle room, this won’t be the best option for you.

The nuggets are only back for a limited time.

How long will KFC Beyond Fried Chicken be available?

KFC did not say how long it would hold Beyond Fried Chicken. He only said it would be while supplies last. Since it is now testing the market nationwide with the plant-based meat, it is possible that KFC could bring it back in the future.

How much does Beyond Fried Chicken cost?

You can get 6-piece Beyond Nuggets for $7 or 12-piece Beyond Nuggets for $14, plus tax. (Price may vary by location.) You can choose the sauce, and you can order them as a combo meal and choose your side. But if you plan to keep your meal plant-based, fries may be the best option.

Are Beyond Fried Chicken Nuggets healthier than regular KFC Nuggets?

KFC doesn’t sell regular chicken nuggets, but it does offer fried wings and tenderloins. Here’s what KFC’s Complete Nutrition Guide says.

Beyond Fried Chicken Nuggets contain 480 calories in a 6-piece meal with 27 grams of fat, 1,440 milligrams of sodium and 30 grams of carbohydrates. In comparison, six fried wings without sauce also contain 480 calories with 36 grams of fat, 900 milligrams of sodium and 18 grams of carbohydrates. Six pieces of KFC’s Extra Crispy Tenders contain 810 calories with 43 grams of fat, 1,890 milligrams of sodium and 48 grams of carbohydrates.

The nutrition of Beyond Fried Chicken Nuggets is quite similar to fried wings without sauce, although the sodium and carbs are significantly higher. However, it seems like a healthier option than crispy chicken fillets.
