October 05, 2021 // Franchising.com // NEWPORT BEACH, Calif .– Juice It Up !, an artisanal smoothie, superfruit bowl and raw juice chains, today announced that same store sales (SSS) have increased 16.7% for the third quarter of 2021. Comparable store sales have also jumped an impressive 35% year-to-date.
In those first three quarters, not only did the brand significantly exceed its 2020 sales figures, but the same-store sales of Juice It Up! in 2021 have passed the same pre-Covid period in 2019. According to the brand’s management team, the extraordinary results achieved in the third quarter are largely due to the growing number of loyal members, the continued focus on menu innovation focused on equal parts flavor and functionality, and strong digital sales. In fact, less than 2% of all Juice It Up! System-wide sales were digital in 2019. However, 2021 digital sales are now approaching 20% thanks to the launch of a mobile app, the progress of online orders and the expansion of delivery options by some thirds.
“We are extremely proud of our third quarter performance and encouraged to head into the end of 2021 in great shape with considerable brand momentum and other sales records in sight,” said Susan Taylor, President and CEO of the management of Juice It Up! “In many ways, our third quarter sales performance mirrors what we’ve seen in the previous two years – with impressive same-store sales growth last year and even more in the first three quarters of 2021 – thanks to a growing number of dedicated franchisees who continue to embrace Juice It Up! business model and fuel our success.
Currently with almost 20 locations in development, Juice It Up! signed six new franchise agreements – including two multi-unit agreements. The brand also reopened five academic institutions – previously closed due to Covid-19 campus closures.
As always, food science and menu innovation stayed at the forefront in the third quarter to deliver exciting flavor profiles and functional options to Juice It Up! guests. A long-time pioneer in the introduction of exotic and lesser-known superfruits to the general public, Juice It Up! was the first smoothie chain in the United States to add Sambazon Açai to its menu in 2001 and has continued to lead the way with its offerings of acai and other functional superfruits over the past 20 years. During the third quarter, the brand launched two new limited-time seasonal smoothies, paying homage to an iconic summer flavor. The Limeade Squeeze and Blueberry Limeade smoothies from Juice It Up! represented a high interpretation of lemonade with additional benefits including vitamin C which boosts the immune system. Seasonal limited-time offers helped increase third-quarter sales by 10% for the brand’s Classic Smoothie category. The quarter also brought new industry accolades including recognition of QSR by naming Juice It Up! one of the best fast food brands to watch in 2021.
