A health coach has revealed his McDonald’s order ‘hack’ for a healthier, protein-rich Bacon and Egg McMuffin.

Bec Hardgrave, from Brisbane, says it’s his food chain drive-thru breakfast order, although it’s still 300 calories.

To order the healthier breakfast, Bec added a Bacon and Egg McMuffin from the kiosk before removing two ingredients to cut the fat: the cooking oil and the classic slice of cheese.

For a low-calorie order, Bec gets a Bacon and Egg McMuffin, but takes out the oil, cheese, and adds an egg.

Bec added an extra egg to the breakfast burger for just $1 to boost protein levels and selected a light amount of tomato sauce.

“Here’s a low-calorie, high-protein Bacon and Egg McMuffin!” Enjoy it,” Bec told his followers in the video.

She posted the order hack on Instagram and TikTok where it received thousands of views and many comments from impressed foodies.

‘I had no idea you couldn’t ask for oil… Thanks! Will ask that next time,” one wrote.

To do this, Bec first took a sausage out of its casing and rolled the meat into a ball, then flattened it with his hand to create a patty shape.

She cracked an egg into a stainless steel ring on a hot pan and also placed the galette there for baking, while she waited she cut a full English muffin in half.

Bec toasted the muffin inside his toaster and placed a slice of Coles’ smoked cheddar cheese on the toasted bottom half.

She then placed her perfectly cooked egg on top, followed by her sausage and placed the top half of the muffin to enjoy.

She posted her delicious recreation on social media and hundreds of foodies commented on the fakeaway post.

How to make Bec’s Sausage and Egg McMuffin:

Ingredients:

  • 1 whole English muffin
  • 1 Extra Lean Pepper Beef Sausages
  • 1 Egg OR 2 Egg Whites
  • 1 slice of Coles smoked cheese

Method:

  1. Take a sausage out of its casing and roll the meat into a ball then flatten it to create a patty shape.
  2. Crack an egg into a stainless steel egg ring on a hot pan and place the patty in the pan to cook as well.
  3. Cut a whole English muffin in half and toast it in the toaster.
  4. Place a slice of Coles Smoked Cheddar Cheese on the grilled bottom half.
  5. Place the cooked egg on top, followed by the sausage patty and place the top half of the muffin on top to enjoy.
