In a statement on Tuesday, the regulator said that even after being informed and twice issued improvement notices, the 15 FBOs in the Kerala region had not performed any third-party food safety audits.
“Failure to comply with the mandatory audits by the above FBOs in high risk food sector operations has been taken seriously and their FSSAI license has been suspended with effect from September 13 before noon by the designated central agent , Kerala & Lakshadweep in accordance with Article 32 (2) of the Rules and Regulations of the Food Safety Act 2006 and the standards adopted thereunder, ”the statement said. FBOs are spread over Thiruvananthapuram, Thrissur, Ernakulam, Kottayam, Kannur, Malappuram, Wayanad and Palakkad.
These include the Uday Samudra Leisure Beach Hotel & Spa, Thiruvananthapuram; Lite Bite Foods Pvt Ltd, Kannur; and Kovalam Resort Pvt Ltd, The Leela Kovalam, Thiruvananthapuram.
