Acrington McDonald’s staff abused, Tesco store destroyed ‘inside and out’ by gang of 20 youth

Tesco and McDonald’s staff in Accrington have been abused by a gang of young people who left a trail of destruction in their wake.

Hyndburn Police said a group of 15-20 young people caused trouble in the town center with two antisocial incidents reported in the past 48 hours.

The gang started at McDonald’s by “abusing staff and causing havoc.”

They then moved on to the Tesco Extra on Eagle Street before “mistreating the staff and smashing the store inside and out.”

Officers said some of the youths had been identified as residents of the Fern Gore area.

PCSO Matthew Gill said they will be visiting their parents “in the next few days” and appealed to identify the others.

He said: “A large group of young people of 15-20 people have caused problems in downtown Accrington.

“They started at McDonald’s mistreating staff and causing havoc, then moved on to Tesco mistreating staff and destroying the store inside and out.

“This is the second incident in two days with the same young people.

“We have recognized a few from the Fern Gore area and will be visiting their parents in the next few days.

“If anyone has more information about who they are and where they live, you can confidently respond to this message.

“If you don’t know where your kids are, please check back as they might be part of the group causing trouble in the city center.”
